AH, Crazy! I was at the aquarium with my family and I got a text from my bishop! When you are getting ready to serve a mission, you will text your bishop A LOT. Well, I do. Hmmm.
Anyways! I got a text from him saying that My I had been assigned a call and that it was in the mail!!!!! Oh, my heck! I am so excited! This is so amazing! I have always wanted to serve a mission. I've had my ups and downs about it for sure. It can be a roller coaster, let me tell ya! And I heard it gets worse after one gets their call. I'll take it one day at a time.
Here I am about to get my call within a couple of days!
People are so cool. I just love them! I taught three families with the sister missionaries today. They were all so different and it gave me a little taste of the mission. Which I really needed. Going on a mission is super stressful! Okay, the three families I helped teach today are awesome. The first one was a family of adopted kids. the two oldest are getting baptized in two saturdays! The parents are LDS and active. We taught the whole family about baptism and enduring to the end. I sat and listened to the sisters until the end, when I bore my testimony of the gospel and the happiness is brings me. We chatted for a bit and then left. The next family we taught was an older non-member couple and they were SO cool!!! The sister's hadn't ever talked to them before and they were kinda nervous, because their ipad had died. They usually use it to share a mormon message while proselytizing, https://www.mormonchannel.org/watch/series/mormon-messages and http://www.mormon.org/ . Since it was dead, they didn't know what to do! :) We finally decided to just go to their door and trust that the Lord would help us out. So, we knocked and they let us right in! It turns out they've had tons of missionaries talk to them, so they weren't that surprised to see us. They were surprised to see three of us instead of two. One of the sisters explained that I was going to be a missionary soon and I was hanging out with them for the day. They were so nice and we talked for an hour and a half! It was absolutely incredible to see a glimpse of what missionary work is like. I learned a ton from the couple. They both had strong relationships with God, but were not ready to accept the gospel. I can't help but feel that the wife was ready, but she was waiting for her spouse. And Mr. Husband wasn't ready, because he does not want to read the book of Mormon. They are such an amazing couple, really. I admire both of the testimonies of heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know they will learn of the truth someday. After that we went to a family and spoke with them briefly and set up an appointment for the following week. The wife is not a member and the husband is a member but isn't active. I went home after that. I started out the day being nervous about serving and by the end I was filled with peace and confidence. Thank you Heavenly Father!!!
